Tehran museums : National Museum of Iran
The National Museum of Iran includes two distinct buildings. The Museum of Ancient Iran and the Museum of the Islamic Period. The National Museum of Iran with about 60 years old. It is not only the largest archaeological museum in Iran, but also this museum is considered as Iran’s mother museum
The Golestan Palace is available on the UNESCO World Heritage list. This place was the seat of the Qajar Dynasty. The marble throne which is located in the mirror hall and clock of Shams-al mare which was a gift from Britain’s Queen Victoria to Nasereddin Shah, are the important sights of the Golestan Museum. Moreover,the tiled walls of this palace are built for royal paintings.
Saadabad palace museum complex
This luxury summery residence with an area of more than 100 hectares is located in the northern of Tehran . There are 18 mansions in this collection. The White House with 54 rooms, was built in the memorial of the Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi. Definitely It is one of the most attractive place in this complex. Plus the garden of Saadabad, with its old trees, is one of the Tehran attractions.
Niavaran Historical and Cultural Complex
The Niavaran Historical and Cultural Complex located in a 5-hectare garden. Niavaran Palace was the main residence of Mohammad Reza Shah and his family. Magnificent rugs and stylish clothes are notably more than anything. Niavaran complex is one of the best museums in Tehran.
National jewelry museum
The national museum of jewels is located in the basement of the Central Bank of Iran. Includes an unique collection of precious stones, crowns and other jewels belonging to the Safavid kings, Qajar and Pahlavi. Among the most valuable jewels of this treasure , The peacock throne and the diamond of the sea of light are so attractive.
Contemporary art museum
The Museum of Contemporary Art in Tehran, includes a collection of paintings and sculptures. This object collected and exhibited since 1979. The artworks of artists from Europe, America and Iran, such as Monti and Sohrab Sepehri, exhibit in this museum. Kamran Diba designed This museum and he is admired for its architectural style.
Museum of the Qasr Prison
The Qasr Museum building was built during the Qajar dynasty by the architect Nikolai Markov. It is a combination of Persian and European architecture style. Many parts of this mansion were destroy at the time of Muzaffar al-Din Shah in 1308. The foundation of Iran’s first prison was built on its ruins. For many years, it was used as a prison for political prisoners and offenders. Finally at the year 1390, the Qasr Prison has been opened as a museum.
Reza Abbasi Museum
The museum, named in honor of the great Safavid artist, Reza Abbasi . This museum includes three galleries. Pre-Islamic art, the Islamic period, and the art of painting and calligraphy. Paintings by Reza Abbasi, along with many of Pottery art, metal art and Ancient jewelry are exhibited at this gallery.
The museum of The Holy Defence
